About Oil Fired Boiler

Gyantosh's Oil Fired Steam Boilers deliver clean, fully automatic steam generation for plants that need dependable process steam with minimal operator attention. An oil fired steam boiler starts fast, holds pressure closely against a swinging load, and produces almost no ash — which is why it is chosen where steam quality and uptime matter more than fuel cost per kilogram.

Fuel is the whole economic argument. These boilers fire Light Diesel Oil (LDO), High Speed Diesel (HSD), Furnace Oil (FO) and Low Sulphur Furnace Oil (LSFO), and the choice between them is a trade between handling and price: LDO and HSD need no preheating and light immediately, while FO and LSFO cost less per unit of energy but must be heated and kept hot to stay pumpable. That preheating — tank heaters, traced lines, a day tank — is real plant, and it has to be in the quotation rather than discovered at commissioning.

The boilers incorporate high-performance burner systems that ensure complete fuel combustion, maximum heat transfer, and low emissions. Combined with a fully automatic control system, these boilers continuously regulate fuel supply, combustion air, steam pressure, and burner operation, delivering stable steam generation while optimizing fuel consumption and reducing operating costs.

Manufactured using premium-quality boiler-grade steel and precision-engineered pressure components, every boiler is built to provide long service life, operational safety, and dependable performance under continuous industrial duty. Their compact package design, quick start-up capability, and low maintenance requirements make them an ideal choice for industries where clean steam, process reliability, and operational efficiency are critical.

With negligible ash, no fuel yard and no ash handling, an oil fired boiler removes most of the daily labour a solid fuel installation demands, and its compact footprint suits sites where floor space is the binding constraint. That is also the honest comparison to make: the fuel is dearer, and what you are buying back is space, cleanliness, start-up speed and the absence of an operator on the grate. If gaseous fuel is available at your site, our gas fired boiler covers that case; where both are, a dual fuel burner keeps the option open.

Typical duty is process heating, sterilization, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and dairy processing, chemical production, hospitals, hotels, breweries and textile processing — anywhere clean, responsive steam is worth more than the cheapest possible fuel.

Available in capacities ranging from 0.5 TPH to 25 TPH, these boilers can be customized to meet varying steam capacities, operating pressures, burner configurations, and process requirements.

Our oil fired steam boilers suit both greenfield projects and the replacement of existing plant, and are supplied as a compact, fully automated package. Where a plant wants the flexibility of both fuels, we also build oil and gas fired boilers on a dual fuel burner.

Frequently Asked Questions(11)

What is the minimum capacity available?
We supply oil fired steam boilers starting from 0.5 TPH for small-scale industrial applications, up to 25 TPH for large process plants.
Is IBR certification available?
Yes. All boilers above atmospheric pressure are supplied with full IBR certification as required by the Indian Boiler Regulations Act.
What is the difference between LDO and FO/HFO boilers?
LDO (Light Diesel Oil) boilers are simpler to operate with fewer preheating requirements. FO/HFO (Furnace Oil) boilers require fuel preheating and are typically suited to larger capacities where FO is cost-effective.
Can the same boiler fire gas as well as oil?
Yes — a dual fuel burner switches between oil and gas without major modification, which is worth specifying where gas supply is planned but not yet connected, or where you want security against one fuel becoming scarce or expensive. If gas is already available at site, see our gas fired boiler instead.
How automatic is the boiler operation?
Fully automatic. The burner management system continuously regulates fuel supply, combustion air and steam pressure, with PLC-based control and an optional touchscreen HMI, so the boiler needs supervision rather than an operator on it.
Is an oil fired boiler more expensive to run than a solid fuel boiler?
Per unit of steam, generally yes — oil costs more per kilocalorie than coal or biomass. What offsets it is everything around the fuel: no fuel yard, no ash handling, no grate labour, lower maintenance, faster start-up and a much smaller footprint. For an intermittent or clean-steam duty the total cost often favours oil; for a continuous high-load duty it usually does not. Our steam cost calculator under Tools will put numbers on your case.
What is the typical installation timeline after delivery?
A packaged oil fired boiler typically takes 1-3 weeks to install after delivery, depending on site readiness for fuel supply, electrical and flue connections.
Do I need a chimney along with the boiler?
Yes — a chimney is required for flue gas discharge. GyanTosh can supply and install self-supporting MS chimneys sized for your boiler capacity and site conditions as part of the turnkey package.
What routine maintenance does the boiler require?
Routine maintenance includes burner nozzle/electrode checks, fuel filter cleaning, water level and steam pressure checks, and periodic descaling. Annual IBR inspection with hydraulic pressure testing is mandatory. GyanTosh offers AMC contracts to manage all scheduled and breakdown maintenance.
Can GyanTosh handle the complete turnkey installation?
Yes. GyanTosh provides complete turnkey solutions covering engineering, supply, civil coordination, installation, commissioning, IBR inspection, operator training, and post-handover support — single-point accountability from start to handover.
Is an oil fueled boiler the same as an oil fired boiler?
Yes — oil fueled boiler is the American spelling of the same equipment. In Indian practice the unit is specified as an oil fired boiler, usually on furnace oil, LDO or HSD, and the fuel choice affects burner selection, preheating and storage rather than the pressure parts.
