What boiler is used in a chemical plant?
Most chemical plants run a solid-fuel or oil/gas fired steam boiler sized on the largest simultaneous reactor and distillation load, not the sum of connected equipment. Where the process needs temperatures above roughly 180 °C, a thermic fluid heater usually replaces steam for that circuit, because matching those temperatures with saturated steam demands pressures that change the whole pressure-part and inspection specification.
What steam pressure do chemical processes need?
It varies widely across one site, which is the real design problem. Reactor jackets and distillation reboilers often want steam at different pressures, so the boiler is specified at the highest and reduced locally through pressure reducing stations. Do we need air pollution control for a chemical plant boiler?
If the boiler is solid-fuel fired, almost certainly — state pollution control board consent conditions set particulate limits that a bag filter, ESP or scrubber is sized to meet. Oil and gas fired boilers usually need only a correctly sized chimney. The requirement comes from your consent to operate, so send it with the enquiry.
