How much steam does textile wet processing use?
Full wet processing — pre-treatment, dyeing and finishing — runs at roughly 2 to 8 kg of steam per kg of fabric, with about 4 kg typical; the spread reflects how much the process route and machinery differ between mills. Jigger dyeing alone is around 1.5 to 2 kg per kg of fabric, and a single one-hour dyeing cycle at 75 °C around 0.55 kg.
Should a textile mill use steam or thermic fluid?
Both, usually. Dyeing and wet processing want steam because the duty is direct heating and moisture; stenters, calendering and drying cylinders want thermic fluid because they need steady high surface temperature at near-atmospheric pressure. Most mills run a boiler and a thermic fluid heater side by side rather than forcing one to do both.
Why does condensate recovery matter so much in textiles?
Because the steam volumes are large and the condensate comes back hot and clean. Returning it saves fuel, treated water and blowdown at the same time — three budgets, one pipe. In a mill of any size it is normally the shortest-payback efficiency measure available.
