Work it out for your plant

We do not yet publish consumption benchmarks for this sector, so start from your heat load or a steam figure you already know — the calculators take either.

Or read the background in the Knowledge Hub, which covers boiler operations, steam distribution, condensate management and the regulatory position.

Already running a plant? Our lifecycle services cover installation and commissioning, boiler AMC, retrofits, plant audits, spare parts and operator training — on equipment from any manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions(3)

What kind of steam does a pharmaceutical plant need?
Two kinds, and conflating them is expensive. Plant steam raised in the boiler serves jackets, dryers and utilities; pure or clean steam for sterilisation and direct product contact is generated separately in a dedicated generator fed with treated water. GyanTosh supplies the plant steam system and the utilities around it.
Why is redundancy specified in pharma boiler houses?
Because an unplanned steam outage stops a validated batch, and the batch is worth far more than the spare capacity. Most GMP sites run two smaller boilers rather than one large one, so maintenance and inspection happen without stopping production. That choice is made at sizing, not later.
What heating is used for tablet coating and drying?
Thermic fluid, usually. Coating and drying need steady, closely controlled surface temperatures rather than the highest possible temperature, and a closed thermic fluid loop holds that more evenly than steam cycling through a control valve — at near-atmospheric pressure rather than the pressure the same temperature would demand of steam.
