About Cyclone Separators

Gyantosh's Cyclone Separators are engineered to provide efficient and economical removal of coarse and medium-sized particulate matter from industrial exhaust gases. Utilizing the principle of centrifugal separation, these systems effectively remove dust, ash, and solid particles from flue gas streams before they are released into the atmosphere or passed through secondary pollution control equipment.

Designed with precision-engineered vortex chambers and optimized gas flow paths, our Cyclone Separators offer reliable dust separation with minimal pressure loss and low operating costs. Their simple yet highly effective design makes them an ideal solution for industries seeking robust particulate removal without the need for complex filtration systems or high maintenance requirements.

The operating principle is based on centrifugal force. Dust-laden gases enter the cyclone tangentially at high velocity, creating a powerful spiral vortex inside the separator. As the gas rotates, heavier dust particles experience centrifugal force that propels them toward the cyclone walls. These particles gradually lose momentum, slide downward under gravity, and are collected in the dust hopper below, while the cleaned gas changes direction and exits through the central outlet at the top.

Our Cyclone Separators are particularly effective in handling high dust loading applications involving fly ash, coal dust, biomass ash, sawdust, wood dust, grain dust, and other coarse particulate matter. They are commonly installed as standalone dust collection systems or as pre-cleaners ahead of Bag Filters or Electrostatic Precipitators, significantly reducing particulate loading on downstream filtration equipment and extending its operational life.

Manufactured using heavy-duty steel construction and precision-fabricated internal components, every Cyclone Separator is designed for long service life, dependable operation, and continuous industrial performance. With no moving internal parts, the system offers exceptional reliability, reduced maintenance requirements, and lower lifecycle operating costs.

Our Cyclone Separators are suitable for a wide range of industrial heating and process applications including steam boilers, thermic fluid heaters, hot air generators, furnaces, dryers, material handling systems, woodworking plants, grain processing facilities, and biomass combustion systems.

Suitable for heating systems up to 100 Lakh kcal/hr, Gyantosh's Cyclone Separators provide industries with an economical, durable, and energy-efficient solution for primary dust collection and air pollution control.

Frequently Asked Questions(10)

What size particulate matter can a Cyclone Separator remove?
Cyclone Separators are most effective for coarse and medium-sized particulate matter such as fly ash, coal dust, sawdust, wood dust, and grain dust. Very fine particulates typically require a downstream Bag Filter or ESP for complete removal.
Can a Cyclone Separator be used as a standalone dust collection system?
Yes — for applications with predominantly coarse dust, a Cyclone Separator can serve as a standalone dust collection system. For applications with fine particulate matter or stringent emission limits, it is commonly used as a pre-cleaner ahead of a Bag Filter or ESP.
What is the difference between Single and Multi Cyclone Separators?
A Single Cyclone Separator suits moderate dust loading with a compact footprint. A Multi Cyclone Separator uses multiple small-diameter cyclones in parallel to achieve higher collection efficiency, suited to boilers and heating systems with larger flue gas volumes.
What size heating system can this be paired with?
Our Cyclone Separators are custom-designed for industrial heating systems up to 100 Lakh kcal/hr, with sizing based on gas flow rate, dust loading, and particle size distribution.
Why use a Cyclone Separator ahead of a Bag Filter or ESP?
Installing a Cyclone Separator as a pre-cleaner significantly reduces the particulate loading reaching a downstream Bag Filter or Electrostatic Precipitator, extending filter/electrode life, reducing maintenance frequency, and improving overall system efficiency.
How much maintenance does a Cyclone Separator require?
Very little — since Cyclone Separators have no filter media, electrical components, or moving internal parts, maintenance is largely limited to periodic inspection of the hopper, dust discharge system, and internal wear surfaces.
What operating temperatures can the cyclone handle?
Standard designs handle gas temperatures up to 250°C. Higher temperatures can be accommodated with customized refractory lining and material selection.
Does this help with CPCB/SPCB compliance?
Cyclone Separators alone typically achieve moderate collection efficiency and are often combined with a Bag Filter, ESP, or Wet Scrubber to meet CPCB/SPCB particulate emission limits — GyanTosh can advise on the right combination for your compliance requirements.
What is the typical installation timeline?
Cyclone Separators are among the faster APC systems to install, typically 4–6 weeks after delivery depending on ducting and site readiness.
Can GyanTosh handle the complete turnkey installation?
Yes. GyanTosh provides complete turnkey solutions covering engineering, supply, civil coordination, installation, commissioning, operator training, and post-handover support — single-point accountability from start to handover.
