What equipment does a biomass or waste-to-energy project need?
A boiler designed around the specific fuel — RDF, biomass or agro-residue all behave differently — plus fuel handling, ash handling, emission control and the balance of plant that turns it into a working installation. The fuel analysis drives every one of those decisions.
Can refuse derived fuel be burned in a standard boiler?
No, and trying is a common and expensive mistake. RDF varies in composition and moisture and produces corrosive, fouling flue gas, so it needs a larger furnace, corrosion-resistant surfaces, controlled combustion temperature and robust automatic feed and ash handling. A boiler built for coal will foul and corrode on it.
