How much steam does an edible oil plant use?
Oilseed preparation and solvent extraction together run at roughly 220 to 350 kg of steam per tonne of seed crushed, with about 280 kg typical. Seed preparation alone — cleaning, cracking, flaking and conditioning — accounts for around 90 kg of that. Refining is a separate load on top.
What fuel suits an agro processing plant?
Usually the residue the plant already produces or can buy locally: husk, deoiled cake, briquettes or mixed agro-waste. That is the whole economic argument for the sector. The boiler is then designed around that fuel's moisture, calorific value and ash behaviour rather than being chosen first and fed second.
Is a biomass boiler worth it if fuel supply is seasonal?
Only if the supply is genuinely dependable across the year, or the boiler can burn a second fuel. Multi-fuel grate designs handle that, but a boiler designed around one residue and then run on another will underperform on capacity and foul faster.
