Packaged Steam Boiler

We engineer and supply Packaged Steam Boiler as part of complete industrial heating and utility solutions. Share your capacity, fuel type, application, and site details — our team will recommend a suitable configuration and quote.

About Packaged Steam Boiler

A packaged steam boiler is supplied as a factory-assembled unit rather than as components erected on site. The pressure vessel, burner, mountings, controls, feed pump and panel are mounted, piped and wired on a common base in the works, then tested before dispatch. What arrives at site is a machine to be positioned and connected, not a kit to be built.

The reason to specify one is schedule and predictability. Site erection of a boiler is slow, weather-dependent, and consumes skilled supervision; work done in a workshop is faster, better controlled, and inspected under better conditions. For projects where the plant room is on the critical path, or where site access and skilled labour are constrained, a packaged unit removes a substantial block of time and risk from the programme.

The constraint is transport and access. A packaged boiler must reach its final position in one piece, which sets a practical ceiling on capacity and demands that road route, gate width, door openings and lifting access are checked at the design stage rather than on delivery day. Above that ceiling, site-erected construction remains the right answer.

GyanTosh supplies packaged steam boilers alongside the balance-of-plant they need — feed water treatment, chimney, fuel handling and steam distribution — so responsibility for the interfaces between them sits in one place. Share your steam demand, working pressure, fuel and site access constraints and we will confirm whether a packaged unit fits.

Packaged Steam Boiler Key Features

  • Factory-assembled, pre-piped and pre-wired on a common skid or base frame
  • Works-tested before dispatch, reducing commissioning surprises
  • Site work reduced to positioning, connection and commissioning
  • Consistent build quality from workshop conditions rather than site conditions
  • Compact, planned layout with mountings and controls already integrated
  • Shorter project programme where the plant room is on the critical path
  • Balance-of-plant supplied alongside for single-point responsibility

Fuels Used

Construction

Shell and tube (fire-tube) package

The common packaged configuration: combustion gases pass through tubes inside a water-filled shell. Compact, well proven, and straightforward to maintain.

Skid-mounted assembly

Boiler, burner, feed pump, mountings and panel mounted on one base frame so the unit arrives as a single machine with interfaces already made.

Advantages of a Packaged Steam Boiler

Shorter site programme

Assembly and testing happen in the works while civil work proceeds in parallel, compressing the overall schedule rather than serialising it.

Fewer commissioning surprises

The unit is tested as an assembly before dispatch, so interface problems surface in the workshop rather than during a plant shutdown.

Controlled build quality

Welding, alignment and wiring performed under workshop conditions are more consistent than the same work done on a live site.

Predictable footprint

A packaged layout is fixed and known at the design stage, which simplifies plant room planning and service access.

Frequently Asked Questions(4)

What is the difference between a packaged boiler and a site-erected boiler?
A packaged boiler is assembled, piped, wired and tested in the works and delivered as one machine. A site-erected boiler is built in position from components. Packaged units are faster to commission; site erection is used where capacity or access makes single-piece delivery impractical.
Is there a capacity limit on packaged boilers?
In practice the limit is transport and access rather than engineering — the unit has to reach its final position in one piece. Road route, gate width, door openings and lifting access should be checked at design stage, and they set the ceiling for a given site.
Does a packaged boiler still need IBR approval?
Yes, if it falls within IBR scope. Being factory-assembled changes where the work is done, not whether the Boilers Act applies. Scope is determined by water capacity and steam pressure.
Can a packaged boiler replace an existing unit during a shutdown?
That is one of its strongest use cases. Because site work reduces to positioning, connection and commissioning, a packaged replacement fits into a far shorter outage than an equivalent site-erected build.
